Most people don't realize that even though you shut your computer, monitor, printer, and copier off doesn't mean they aren't using electricity. Most of these items will draw electricity anytime they are plugged into a wall outlet even if they are off.
There are two solutions.
1. You could unplug these items from the outlet when not in use. This probably isn't practical for most people.
2. You could simply plug these items into a surge protector. Then when they are not in use, you simply turn the surge protector off. This completely isolates the electronics from the outlet and prevents and electricity usage.
