What's a "hidden load"?
Did you know that even though you may not have an electronic device on, if it is being plugged in it is still using electricity? It's called 'Hidden Loads' and it's a small amount of electricity that seeps out into electronic devices when plugged in. So, if you're not using it, either unplug it, or turn of your power bars!

this tip has it pros and cons, If you turn off everything, you will lose your settings, that in result when you turn them back on you will need to configure them from the beginning, that in result takes your time and waste the energy for simple doing that. In this case standby saves time, if the device is difficult to setup and has a lots of options and settings
Some of electronics require to have standby settings due to memories, clocks or other settings that have to be saved. Also considering to turn off some devices is more likely to damage them. I would recommend to look into the specs when you buying the device that how much it does take in sleep/stand by mode, or if it has a batteries for keeping the settings, and if it does I would prefer those products and not look on a brand name of the device (today all brands are the same, they use same components and the quality is so high that is pointless to buy one brand because it has better name)
